From my observations airdrop is not related only to getting free money but it help you to know more about the project ecosystem even before the launching of the project .
It help to create more information and awareness about cryptocurrency in general for wider adoption .
And to the project or ecosystem it is not a waste resources but rather it makes a project to be more successful and massively adopted .
So with all these i can say that airdrop is educative, informative impactful and encouraging and not a waste of resources or a free money alone.
