A lot of people are wondering if they will be rewarded for hosting a devnet node or for other activities such as registering a domain name in the aptos ecosystem, testing NFT sites, and more.
It would be great if the community gets some hint of what’s next.
It would also be great to prioritize tasks in the devnet so that human labor is spent in the right direction.
P.S. do not take my question as begging. I just think this question should be answered once so that the community doesn’t have false hopes and can refer to this forum post in the future
Personally I don’t think anyone should be doing these things for a physical reward, it seems like everyone is asking for rewards these days. What many do not realize is that you are gaining a lot of information and that is worth more than a physical reward. For example, you will have a significant edge when mainnet launches on various protocols. Along with that, you gain a lot of skills by being involved with an early ecosystem like this!
I completely agree with you, but there are a few subtle points that it still makes sense to pay attention to.
Running nodes in Devnet is not free, simple math allows us to calculate that even at the lowest server rental cost at the peak, the costs reached 30,000x5 = 150 thousand dollars per month, de facto costs are much higher. I don’t think it’s up to the community to connect so many nodes to the devnet. It would be much more appropriate to spend these funds in the direction where the Aptos team points.
People try to abuse the system by creating multi-accounts and doing useless operations in the hope of something like AirDrop in the future. If the team had prioritized tasks and rewards for the most productive members, the effort and money would have been spent more pragmatically.
My personal point of view is that devnet should be rewarding and rewards should be announced in advance, while carefully controlling suspicious transactions on the network and filtering out multi-accounts. This would add little cost to the budget, but would also bring huge development potential.
Clarity can not hurt anything and rewards are in sync with the ethos of the crypto space where all may benefit from the existence and development of crypto and blockchain technology. I see nothing wrong with those helping to build, maintain, or contributing in a meaningful way, getting something in return for their efforts and time. I also agree that those found to be gaming the system should be sought out and disqualified!
This is actually true, with the activities going on in the Aptos ecosystem, I think anybody involved now will be ahead of others that will join on the way
All proven points here are valid and I totally understand everyone’s opinion, rewards are not totally bad, infact they serve as an expected incentive for time spent and dedication which in turns can institute the love of a project even to a passerby, I advice there shouldn’t be any hint on reward destribution model, as said above team should device a model to screen out bots:hugs:
Tactically you’re right! By so doing will help even the ways and direction the Aptos community engaging with the different upcoming Dapps protocol on the ecosystem
