RENAISSANCE "The Period of Enlightenment and Reawakening"

An Overveiw on the Intellectual History of Europe.

The Renaissance was a period of cultural and intellectual flourishing that took place in Europe between the 14th and 17th centuries. It began in Italy and spread throughout Europe, with the revival of classical learning and a renewed interest in science, art, literature, and philosophy.

During this time, there was a shift in thinking from the medieval focus on religion and the afterlife to a humanistic focus on the individual and their potential. Humanism, the belief in the power and potential of human beings, became a major theme of the Renaissance.

The Renaissance was marked by a number of significant cultural and artistic achievements, including the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. The period also saw the rise of printing and the dissemination of knowledge through books.

The Renaissance had a profound impact on European society, as it marked a departure from the strict social hierarchy of the Middle Ages and led to the emergence of a more secular and rational worldview. It also paved the way for the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment.
