Petra Wallet - Aptos wallet review

Petra Wallet is a free wallet for Aptos, designed as an extension for Google Chrome or browsers based on it (for example: Brave). The wallet allows you to store and transfer assets, create and view NFTs, and connect to decentralized applications (dApps) on the Aptos blockchain.

General information about the Petra wallet
Non-custodial. The wallet does not store mnemonic phrases and user passwords on its side, which ensures the security of your funds stored on the wallet.
Extension for Google Chrome. To work with the wallet, it is enough to install a simple extension for the Chrome browser.
Web3 support. The wallet allows you to view your non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and connect to decentralized applications (dApss).

How to install Petra Wallet?

  1. Go to the Petra Wallet website.
  2. Click the “Download” button.
  3. You will be directed to the Google Chrome app store, where you click the “Install” button.
  4. The wallet will appear among your browser extensions.

How to create an Aptos wallet in Petra Wallet?

  1. Open the installed Petra wallet extension.
  2. Click “Create New Wallet”.
  3. Think up and enter a strong password for your wallet, and then click “Continue”.
  4. Click on the gray box labeled “Click to reveal phrase” to see the 12 words of the mnemonic phrase and save it in a safe place, then click “Continue”.
  5. Now enter the 12 words that you saved and click “Continue” again.
  6. Wallet created.

How to import Aptos wallet to Petra Wallet?

  1. Open the installed Petra wallet extension.
  2. Click “Import Wallet”.
  3. Click “Import mnemonic”, enter 12 words of your mnemonic phrase and click “Continue”.
  4. Think up and enter a strong password for your wallet and click “Continue”.
  5. Wallet imported.

How to find out your Aptos private key in Petra Wallet?

  1. Click “Setting” in the lower right corner of the wallet.
  2. Click “Manage Account” in the opened settings.
  3. Enter your password and click the “Next” button.
  4. In the window that opens, click “Show” next to “Private Key” to see your private key.

Warning!
Keep your private key and mnemonic phrase in a safe place, or better yet, keep them on paper. If this data falls into the wrong hands, you will lose your funds forever.
