How does Aptos compare to other blockchains like Solana or Binance Smart Chain?

Aptos is a new layer-1 Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain that claims to be both secure and scalable. It was founded by developers who formerly worked on Diem, Meta’s blockchain initiative. The network can handle over 130k transactions per second using its parallel execution engine (Block-STM), which results in low transaction costs for users.

Solana is another popular Layer 1 blockchain that has attempted to solve the problem of increased transaction throughput. It has its own benefits and tradeoffs, and has slowly seen the growth of various communities around it.

Binance Smart Chain (BSC) was introduced in September 2020, when the battle for high transaction throughput blockchain was about to peak. The prime objective of BSC was to massively increase transaction throughput and rapidly reduce transactional cost. It did manage to achieve both the goals by adopting a Proof of Authority (PoA) and Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism.
