Crypto Ban lifted in Nigeria

Few years ago, the Central Bank of Nigeria under the leadership of its then Governor, Godwin Emefiele incurred a ban on cryptocurrency, such that every banks are not used as a means for transaction to be carried out by cryptocurrency traders. Performing transaction that has to do with cryptocurrency attracts a penalty such as account restriction.

This law does not state that cryptocurrency is banned, but it disallowed all financial institutions in Nigeria to carry out transaction related to crypto. Now the Federal Government of Nigeria under the Umbrella of President Bola Tinubu has seen the crypto ban lifted, and this is a good news for crypto traders in Nigeria as they are saved the stress of purchasing or selling their crypto through the P2P trading means which is not as safe and effective as direct purchase via credit card.
