Researchers at the University of Texas have developed a groundbreaking GPT-based decoder that translates thoughts into text using non-invasive fMRI scans.
Participants in the study trained the decoder by listening to podcasts for 16 hours. The AI system then generated text as participants listened to or imagined a new story, capturing their thoughts. Although the exact words were not always identical, the overall meaning was successfully captured. 
AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton recently clarified his departure from Google, stating that he left the company to openly discuss the dangers of AI without considering the impact on Google. Hinton emphasized that his decision was not driven by Google’s irresponsibility, as the company has acted responsibly.
